VanjaCalovicPanel of experts of the International Open Government Partnership is concerned about the recent attacks on personal account on Vanja Calovic related to her work to provide an open, transparent and accountable government.

Montenegro is a part of the Open Government Partnership. As members of the Open Government Partnership, countries commit to promote transparency, citizen participation and accountability, in order to control corruption and improve government’s performance.

In addition, governments are obliged to submit to the assessment of the performance of the independent researchers, as part of the Independent reporting mechanism, which monitors the International panel of experts.

Miss Calovic is an integral part of the Independent reporting mechanism, and personally is engaged to review the implementation of Montenegro’s action plan. It is absolutely essential that every researcher of the Independent reporting mechanism has adequate space to post an open question, to conduct investigations into the state of open government in each country that is part of the Open Government Partnership. We expect the action of the Government of Montenegro, which would ensure that the space is adequately protected.
