Decision by Radonjić is a mere revenge

It is my great pleasure that, after more than two years, Sreten Radonjić decided to put his meaningless accusations to paper, because now I can finally prove in court that everything he claims is complete nonsense and an attempt of the Agency Council to get rid of the only person who asks questions in connection to its work. I am sure that even in Montenegro there is no court that could accept APC’s decision as legitimate. It is a classic revenge for the extremely harsh assessments of work of the Agency in the Report of the European Commission, which are exactly the same as the objections I have repeatedly submitted to the Director both publicly and at the sessions of the Council.

Radonjić’s decision is pure revenge, it is illegal and, from the procedural point of view, inaccurate and not based on facts, evidence and arguments, nor on the substance. I believe that it is primarily out of evil intent, and not because of great ignorance, that the Agency failed to determine the key facts that were available to it, and for which such decision will certainly lose in court. Also, the Agency knowingly interprets the law untypically, because it knows very well that the Council is not a second instance body and does not act on the initiatives of NGOs, therefore, of MANS or individuals, but decisions are made arbitrarily by the Director.

The fact that this decision has been made now, after more than two years, and after the Report of European Commission, in which my criticism is explicitly stated as their opinion, shows that it is a mere revenge.

Without my participation in decision-making, the Agency’s Council unanimously decided that it would wait for the final decision in this case, i.e. the court verdict. Although it will not surprise me if they change their position, I expect they will have enough integrity to stick to the conclusion that they have unanimously adopted. However, it would not be the first time for them to change their own opinion under political pressure, but such behaviour would only confirm that in this case, too, it is exclusively a political decision to remove the only person from the Agency Council pointing out to mistakes of this institution.

Vanja Ćalović Marković,
Member of the Council of the Agency for Prevention of Corruption and MANS Executive Director
