Cocaine smuggling and links to drug cartels cannot be resolved by persecuting critics

No verdict for publicly expressed criticism of the situation in our country can restore the reputation of Montenegro where the years-long bloody war of cocaine criminal clans continues, which represent an immediate danger to the life of every citizen of this country.

The verdict passed yesterday by the Basic Court in Pljevlja is a disgrace for the entire country, primarily for the judiciary and the State Prosecutor’s Office, whose non-work and omissions have put us in a situation where distinguished international addresses recognise Montenegro as a mafia state and a regional smuggling hub.

There is no doubt that this is an attempt by the Montenegrin judiciary to silence the critics and open space for similar practice in the future as well, where the verdict against Velimir Čabarkapa will be a pattern of behaviour towards every citizen who dares to speak publicly about the key issues of this country.

The modified anthem of Montenegro is nothing but a presentation of the current situation in the country and a reflection on the catastrophic results of precisely those institutions that now, due to legitimate criticism, intend to imprison Čabarkapa.

That we are “guardians of cocaine and heroin” is clear from the proceedings conducted by the Montenegrin judicial authorities against the suspected drug bosses Kalić and Šarić, who not only were not prosecuted, but the citizens are now forced to pay millions in damages from their pockets due to omissions of both the judiciary and the State Prosecutor’s Office.

Video of Safet Kalić’s wedding and his very close relationship with Zoran Lazović, then the high-ranking official of the National Security Agency, testifies that “we have never tied drug dealers in shackles and chains,” and we have never intended to do so as a state. Such message is sent by the appointment of Lazović as the head of the Department for Fight against Organized Crime and Corruption in the Police Directorate.

 Safet Kalić’s wedding

Numerous seizures of cocaine and heroin in ports around the world, which are organized by exactly those persons who Montenegrin judicial authorities have not been able to prosecute for years, even for traffic violation, show that “our dear homeland is famous for drugs”.

Such shameful act of the Montenegrin judiciary requires the condemnation of the entire society, because we must not allow those who have never brought the heads of organized crime to justice to punish those who criticize them for that.
